Installation

BioCompact® R treatment plant consists of one to three containers. Smaller units consist of one container,  while the larger plants consist of two or three separate containers, which are linked on-site. All container dimensions comply with road and air transportation standards in most countries, so special transportation permits are usually unnecessary. Additionally for use on land, a concrete slab is needed to support the unit. Depending on the local climate conditions, a shelter building around the unit may be desired in order to protect maintenance personnel and equipment. On ships, BioCompact® R (S) wastewater treatment plant is integrated into the ship itself.

Maintenance

Ordinary maintenance for the BioCompact® R treatment plant includes a bimonthly or quarterly check of the activated sludge’s concentration and a monthly cleaning of the sensors. The sludge holding tank must be emptied at least quarterly, depending on solids load conditions.  BioCompact® R treatment plants that are equipped with screening and grit removal require a periodic emptying of the refuse container. Intelligent sensors installed in the system require exchange annually or once in two years.

Dimensions

Dimensions of BioCompact® R treatment plant are shown in the table below. The capacity of each system is based on the sewage production of 350 l per person per day.
